From 7th grade to senior year of high school, I was involved with "got robot?", my local community robotics team. There isn't enough room on a page to describe everything I've learned. It was definitely the one of the most valuable engineering experiences I've ever had, especially considering my age.
I found out about FIRST robotics because of a library STEM outreach that got robot? did near my house. I thought it was cool, but my dad really saw the vision. He kept in touch with the coach, and as soon as I was old enough I joined the team.
The FIRST Tech Challenge competition was held by FIRST robotics.
2016-2017
My first season on the team, I am in the middle in the back row.
Archimedes with the intake auger and two button push pads.
Me building the programming bot. It was a simple tank style drive with omni rollers in the front for turning capability.
Kenton and me working on the "programming" bot. There were always 2 bots at the same time. The actual one with accurate mechanical design, and a bot just to write code on.
I helped assemble a 3D printed prosthetic hand that we actually donated to someone. He could flex his wrist, which would pull strings and curl the fingers.
Sorry Bears fans!
